I'm Christy Wendell and I've been at Owasso Public Schools for 12 years but I've been teaching for 15. I went to school at Oklahoma State University and got my degree in elementary education but even then I knew I wanted to teach middle school math. So from the beginning I got an endorsement of math to teach middle school and that's what I've done my whole career. Ahh some of my favorite things is really kind of goes to hand in hand but that doctor struggle so since it's a struggle right sort of struggle with it they wrestle with that they get upset so when they have that productive struggle and then you know that can happen for weeks at a time and then something happens and it may not the same topic but they start to go okay I'm good at math they have a little bit of success so I like that moment when you can really help them understand that they are mathematicians and they can do it and so the struggle is worth it right now that's probably my favorite part about teaching the other part is that just getting to know the students and just being silly with them I think your math is so much about writing everything down we have to do our work we have to do that till the moment that I get to do something by my play a game is going to ball game or getting to change something up and we can do it a little bit different I love that because I kind of get to surprise him right so I have to be the hard teacher because I'm making sure their work I make them do the stuff at the moment I get to do something fun with them and kind of change that up is another favor so I think I always talk about my brand of crazy so I'm just willing to try anything once and it may fail but will try I'm often times it does really well my students have fun we do something new and Innovative until I think when I try to do is just try new things see how it works out and the bring my team along right bring my co-workers along until let's try this it works really well I think just being willing to try new things and be able to implement new things in the classroom they may not all be great and succeed but the ones that do I try to share and help so I think for me and being a teacher here means family right so my boys went here they were raised they were taught by great Educators then they're being successful as a person and an academic's right and neck part of that for me being family is my students become family for the air rights and they become my kids so I think of him like that I talk to him sometimes like I'm their mom and then the other part is that is my co-workers we just become a family we are up to here we just a little fun so it to me my name is Christy Wendell and I'm in Owasso Ram
